Conquer the Real Spain – Trujillo Villas España featured in the Sunday Express
We are once more delighted to announce that Trujillo Villas España has been featured in a fantastic feature by Clair Woodward in the Sunday Express! Six of our luxury villas to rent are featured and Clair Woodward paints a wonderful picture of Trujillo’s allure. Clair Woodward writes:
‘Now the special nature of Trujillo becomes clear. It is a magnificent town but a largely undiscovered gem, not yet overrun by tourism. It still belongs to the Spaniards and therein lies its very special appeal.’
One of the reasons why the region is so popular is for its rich cullinary traditions. Ibérico ham, paprika and several locally produced cheeses make it a dream location for food-lovers. Clair writes:
‘Trujillo is a foodie’s paradise, the Spanish National Cheese Festival is held here in April and May and the local Ibérico ham, made from pigs who feast on acorns, is a speciality… and you have to take home some pimentón, smoked paprika which gives an authentic taste of the area to anything you may make at home.’
And of the villas themselves? Clair continues:
‘A special town deserves special accommodation, and Trujillo Villas offers six very different options. The company owns Villa Piedras Albas, where you can pretend you’re a conquistador in seven-bedroomed splendour and have the best view in town of the colourful Easter parade.
I stayed in the Garden Cottage… with three en-suite bedrooms, two decorated in a typical cool Mediterranean style and the other as an English country house… Adjacent to the cottage is an elegant, Moroccan-styled open plan poolside loggia.
Other properties include the Villa Martires, a miniature stately home with wooden beams and marble floors, and the Villa Moritos which was originally a conquistador’s mansion… There’s also a very romantic Artist’s Studio, a light and airy open-plan space with a mezzanine bedroom.’
