How To Get To Trujillo
The nearest airport is Madrid and the flight time from the UK is one hour fifty minutes. There are regular flights to Madrid operated by British Airways, Easyjet, BMI and Ryanair.
From Madrid the drive time is approximately 2.5 hours. You can rent a car at Madrid Airport from Avis, Hertz or Europcar. Please download directions as below.
There is an express coach service from Madrid bus station to Trujillo which takes 3 hours. The bus station is approximately 20 minutes from Madrid Airport. For bus timetables and fares please check www.avanzabus.com. Please note you can’t buy tickets online with a UK credit card so if you want to travel by bus, you will need to buy tickets on the day at the bus station. It is advisable to find out if it’s a Spanish bank holiday before you travel.
Directions from Madrid to Trujillo
From Madrid Airport Terminal 1: Head out of the car park exit and follow the sign Madrid Sur / Salidas and follow signs to the M30 / M40.
From Madrid Airport Terminal 4: Head out of the car park exit, go through the first toll and then follow directions for Madrid / M30 / M40. You will go round to the left and up to join a number of merging roads.
Keep left and join the toll road that is called the M-14. Head to Madrid / M-40. The M-40 is the equivalent of the M25.
Madrid airport is in the north east end of Madrid and you will need to travel clockwise down towards the south west. ALWAYS follow the signs for the R-5 (Badajoz). After about 50km on the M-40 you get to the R-5 sign. Turn off the motorway and follow the R-5 signs to Toledo / Badajoz and then Trujillo / Caceres. This is a toll road which will (after a couple of extra toll booths) lead you onto the R-5 / A-5.
You should now be on the R5 which becomes the A5. This is the road that you will follow all the way until you get to Trujillo. You are now approximately 215km from Trujillo.
Major towns you will pass on the way include: Talavera de la Reina > Oropesa >Navalmoral de la Mata > Almaraz.
After Almaraz you will go through a tunnel at the top of the hill. Keep going, following signs for Trujillo. When you have gone through the tunnel, please telephone your Trujillo Villas Espana representative so you are met when you arrive in Trujillo.
There are 2 exit junctions for Trujillo off the motorway. Take the second exit junction. You will drive down a hill, and come to a T junction. Take a right. Drive in towards Trujillo, you will see the castle in front of you.
After 500m, the road will narrow as you approach the village (you be on a road called Avenida de la Virgen de Guadalupe). You will see a bull ring on your left. Keep going and go straight on and at the next T junction head in the direction of 10pm onto Calle del Campillo.
After 50m (past a couple of bars – El Leon is one of them on your RHS) you come to a mini roundabout, go straight over (not left) and you will arrive at the IZAN Hotel (orange building). There is a little park on your left. The IZAN hotel is the meeting point, so park your car and you will be met by your Trujillo Villas Espana representative who will take you to the villa.

Directions from Trujillo to Madrid
Leave Trujillo by joining the A5 motorway sign posted Madrid.
This is the road that you will follow all the way until you get to Madrid. You are now approximately 215km from Madrid.
At kilometre 35, you will see a large blue sign marked R5 Mostoles & Madrid. Join the R5 and stay on this road.
After the second service station on the R5, which is a good place to refill your hire car, take M40 (like UK M25) marked Airport & Cordoba. Keep going on the M40 and the road signs then show Valencia + Airport. Keep going on the M40 and the road signs finally show Zaragoza + Airport. This is the cue for the correct junction to leave the M40. After the overhead bridge take turning marked 9AB immediately on your right. Keep in the middle, following signs to the Airport. This road becomes M14 to Airport Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 4. Terminal 4 is a little further on than 1,2 & 3.
